Come and sing Requiem by Matthew Coleridge

Sat, 25 Oct 2025

This was a day exploring Requiem by Matthew Coleridge with our Music Director Tom Newall and Accompanist Rachel Fright.

The work has become one of the UK’s most popular new choral works, and was one of the highest new entries in the Classic FM Hall of Fame 2023. Described by the late Sir Neville Marriner as “a valuable addition to 21st century choral repertoire”, this deeply moving work and its beautiful, flowing melodies have made it a firm favourite with singers and audiences alike.
Reaches into the soul and lifts it skyward BBC Music Magazine

We had about 70 participants and a soprano soloist from Manchester University for the final sing through. (We had about 80 bookings but some were prevented from attending due to illness and other factors)

Feedback from our some of our visitors
"Just wanted to thank you for an amazing day. I had a great time and learned a lot. You have a great team and Tom's enthusiasm and energy really carried me along."  AC, Telford
"A wonderful day! Thank you everyone for all your hard work. Cakes were delicious and Tom and Rachel were as great as ever". AW, Newcastle under Lyme
"(T)hanks for organising a really excellent singing day ... (T)he Matthew Coleridge piece ... was an absolute joy to sing. The refreshments on offer, the comfort of the church and the friendliness of choir members all made for a memorable day (for the right reasons)." SA, Poynton
